Tips for Sellers with Kids

August 27, 2015 by Natalie Poteete

Selling your house can be an emotional and stressful time, especially if you are living in the home with kids. When it comes time to showing your house, it’s probably scary to even think about how you are going to keep the house tidy with your young kids. Realtor.com shared some great tips and tricks when it comes to selling your home while your family!

  • Have your kids help you declutter: An important task when it comes to moving, why not have your kids help you out so they will feel involved.
  • Let the kids pack their own items: Sit down with your kids and make a list of their toys, books, clothes, games, etc, and assign them specific items to pick up and pack. Buyers understand when you have kids that your life doesn’t stop for the showings, so don’t stress so much over the details of their rooms.
  • Make showing times something they can look forward to: Take the kids out for ice cream, go to the park, or go visit a friend. Try to make this time something fun so the kids aren’t dreading when it comes time to show the house.

After-School Programs in the CSRA

August 11, 2015 by Natalie Poteete

What activities are your kids involved in after a day of learning? With school back in session after-school programs are a great way for kids to continue their education in a hands-on environment, burn off some energy, and reinforce character development. The CSRA area offers high quality programs for all ages.

Check out these great after-school enrichment programs!

The Boys and Girls Club: The Boys and Girls Club of the CSRA program is offered for students, in first to fifth grade in South Augusta. Sports leagues and mentoring are also offered for the student to participate in. The STARS program (The Boys and Girls Clubs’ Students Tapping Academic Resources for Success) provides academic enrichment for at-risk students in math, reading, and science with certified teachers. It also provides programs such as nutrition education, music, dance, art, and technology. STARS is funded through 21st Century Learning Center grants. Transportation is offered from select schools to nearby Club locations.

Bricks 4 Kidz: For kids who are imaginative and creative, this program is a great option! The classes are seventy-five minutes and is made up of a lesson on the model theme of the day, allows them to create models that come to life with battery packs and remotes, and provides computers to program their creations at the robotics stations. There is also an opportunity for the children to have time to use specialized project plans to build models with Legos, build and modify models, and computer program their models.

YMCA PrimeTime: Offered in nineteen schools in Richmond County the Family YMCA’s PrimeTime after-school program is a fun way for the kids to burn off their energy in a safe and well-supervised environment. Participation in crafts, outdoor activities, homework time, reading, science, and math is available to all kids.

The Dream Academy: This program is specifically for second through fifth graders attending North Harlem and Euchee Creek Elementary and is partnered with Columbia County Community Connection. There are many different benefits offered; they provide tutoring, help with homework, computer training, nutrition and health, physical education, and life skills.
